Democratic U.S. Rep. Angie Craig spoke about meeting 23-year-old Andrea Pedro-Francisco during a congressional oversight visit to two ICE detention centers.
Pedro-Francisco, an asylum seeker living in Minnesota, had been pleading for treatment for a large ovarian cyst since her arrest by ICE in February 2026.
She was unexpectedly released from a Texas detention center after her case drew attention from Democratic members of Congress, human rights advocates, clergy, and the media.
