At a Somali Independence Day celebration in Minneapolis, Mayor Jacob Frey praised the city’s Somali community and said, “We do not see you as immigrants, we see you as our family. ”The celebration is part of Somali Week, which brings music, food, vendors, and cultural events to Lake Street and communities across Minnesota.
