Here are all the dates you need to know if you’re planning to vote in Minnesota’s 2026 midterm elections.


Election Day in Minnesota and across the country is Tuesday, November 3, 2026, but if you’re planning to vote in the election, which includes high-profile races for the United States Senate and the state legislature, there are a lot of other important dates to keep in mind. 

Here’s your calendar of key dates in Minnesota’s 2026 midterm elections:

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 18: Absentee voting begins. Mail ballots become available, and voters may begin voting absentee. Courier Minnesota’s online portal can help you request an absentee ballot.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 13: This is your last day to register online or by mail to vote in the general election. You can register online using Courier Minnesota’s voter registration tool. Minnesota also offers same-day registration on Election Day.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16: In-person early voting begins. Thanks to a new law, voters can now place ballots directly into ballot counters during the early voting period. Exact times and locations vary by county.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3: This is the last day to vote in Minnesota’s midterm elections. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters in line by 8 p.m. may still vote.
