Minnesota state Sen. John Hoffman says Rep. Angie Craig’s campaign sought his endorsement while he was recovering after he and his wife survived a politically motivated shooting that killed former Democratic House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband. Hoffman said a Craig campaign surrogate approached him in the ICU and again at his home, calling the experience something that “really hurt.” Craig has called the allegation “categorically false,” saying she only discussed the Senate race after Hoffman had returned to political activity.
