Jake Johnson says his decision to run for Congress is rooted in his own experience. The southern Minnesota math teacher taught students who relied on programs including SNAP and Medicaid, and says seeing those programs targeted in Washington made it harder for him to stay on the sidelines. Johnson, the DFL nominee in Minnesota’s 1st Congressional District, is challenging Republican Rep. Brad Finstad in November. He has taught high school math in Rochester for 20 years and has made affordability and support for working families a key part of his campaign.
