The Hispanic Heritage Awards came to Minneapolis for the first time in their nearly 40-year history specifically to recognize Minnesota’s response to the federal immigration crackdown. The ceremony honored the “People of Minnesota” with its Humanitarian Award, recognizing residents and organizations that supported immigrant communities during the surge.Artists including Los Tigres del Norte, Mon Laferte, Ximena Sariñana and others took part in the ceremony. Asked what they wanted Minnesotans to hear, their answers centered on solidarity, resilience and continuing to stand together.
