Republican State Rep Bidal Duran says he has ‘yet to hear of’ a student going to school hungry in MN

Republican State Rep. Bidal Duran questioned whether children are actually going to school hungry in Minnesota, saying he has โ€œyet to hear of oneโ€ while discussing the state’s universal school meals program. Duran co-authored legislation that would have scaled back Minnesotaโ€™s universal free-lunch program by limiting state-paid lunches to families earning up to 500% of the federal poverty level. Minnesota currently provides one breakfast and one lunch at no cost each school day to students at participating schools.
