At a candidate forum during the Minnesota State Fair, gubernatorial candidates Lisa Demuth and Amy Klobuchar spoke with KARE 11 about their approach to housing policy. Senator Klobuchar has a track record of opposing private investors buying up residential housing, having voted for the bipartisan ROAD to Housing Act. Housing has become a core piece of her campaign, including a pledge to build 100,000 new homes in Minnesota. Demuth, by contrast, declined to commit to any state action against private equity buying up homes and didn’t say how many new housing units she believes Minnesota needs.
