“Purely racially profiled”: Indigenous leader slams Metro Surge


Rachel Dionne-Thunder, co-founder of the Indigenous Protector Movement, told lawmakers that Native people were among those stopped and detained during Operation Metro Surge, which she described as evidence of racial profiling during the federal immigration crackdown in Minnesota. She also defended tribal sovereignty and pushed back on rhetoric portraying Native Americans as โ€œconquered people.โ€โ€œYou donโ€™t sign treaties with conquered people,โ€ she said.
