Sen. Amy Klobuchar discussed her clash with Sen. Eric Schmitt during an interview on The Briefing with Jen Psaki, after Schmitt mistakenly claimed former special counsel Jack Smith attended an Atlanta Hawks game in Atlanta on Feb. 3, 2024. Schmitt was trying to establish that Smith was in Atlanta at the time and potentially met with Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, who was investigating President Trump over his conduct following the 2020 election. Klobuchar explained that Smith was actually attending a University of Maryland women’s basketball game against Iowa in College Park, Maryland, and criticized Schmitt for calling Smith a “dirtbag” before getting the facts straight.
