Election judge confronts DOJ observers outside Minneapolis polling place

An election judge at Minneapolis’ Powderhorn Park Recreation Center confronted Department of Justice observers over where they were allowed to stand outside the polling place during Minnesota’s primary. Hennepin and Ramsey counties had denied DOJ observers permission to enter polling sites, meaning federal monitors were required to remain outside a 100-foot boundary. The presence of federal observers has raised concerns among Minnesota election officials about possible voter intimidation and federal interference in elections that are normally administered by state and local officials.
